From Playa del Carmen:Cancun is just 40 miles north and the island of Cozumel is 40 minutes by boat across the channel (10 minutes by air). Also, the Xcaret Eco Archaeological Park is almost next door, and not much farther are major archaeological sites such as Tulum & Xel-Ha (Post-Classic) - 45 minutes; Coba (Terminal Classic) - 1 hour; Chichen Itza
